Russian users have filed ten lawsuits against Apple, accusing the company of slowing down the iPhone. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the managing partner of the NLF group company Maxim Karpov, who represents the interests of the plaintiffs in the Russian courts.
According to Karpov, 10 lawsuits have been filed in the courts of Moscow and the Moscow region for a total of several tens of millions of rubles. And this is only the first wave of lawsuits: just a few hundred Russian owners of the iPhone want to address this problem.
At this stage, the amount of recovered compensation is not a priority. Our key requirement is for the court to establish violations committed by the defendant and oblige it to eliminate the slowdown of the work of the iPhone of previous generations after upgrading the operating system to iOS 11, the NLF group says.
On January 17, the Russian court registered the first lawsuit against Apple related to the company's charge of slowing down the iPhone. The plaintiff demanded not only to replace the battery on his iPhone, but also to pay moral damage of $ 777,777.
Apple apologized for the slowdown of the old iPhone due to the battery life on December 28. Before that, only in the United States several individual and collective lawsuits were filed. The maximum claim amount is one trillion dollars.
