The wave of lawsuits against Apple, related to the slowdown of the iPhone, is growing every day. So, last week, the French prosecutors joined the list of discontented people, which began an investigation into the deliberate limitation of the capabilities of Apple's gadgets.
The office opened a case on January 5 on the basis of a statement by the French consumer association, Reuters reported. At the same time, the materials have not yet been submitted to the court: first the prosecutor's office will conduct its investigation (this may take months), and after that it will decide whether it is worth giving a move. The Ministry of Economy of the country also assisted the regulator in this.
It is noteworthy that the French law provides for the deliberate reduction of the life of goods in order to stimulate demand. If Apple is found guilty, it may face a fine of up to 5% of annual sales.
Apple apologized for the slowdown of the old iPhone due to the battery life on December 28. Before that, only in the United States several individual and collective lawsuits were filed. The maximum amount of the claim is one trillion dollars.
