Deputies of the State Duma want to strengthen the responsibility of companies for deliberately slowing the work of smartphones and reducing the life of goods in general. With a corresponding request, the deputy from the LDPR Vasily Vlasov addressed the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service.
According to TASS, Vlasov basically describes the situation with the iPhone: in his opinion, in this case the manufacturer simply forces the buyer to purchase a new product.
Some smartphone manufacturers knowingly use various methods to reduce the lifespan of their manufactured goods in order to force the buyer to purchase a new product.
The deputy asks the FAS to investigate the possibility of bringing companies to justice in such cases, referring to the legislation of France, where the legal entity is criminally responsible for reducing the period of operation of the goods.
Apple is unlikely to be forced to respond by law because of the slowdown of the iPhone in Russia, since this will require the processing of current legislation. At the same time, this does not prevent Russian users from filing lawsuits against the company: the first of them were filed this week.
